Band Solo and Ensemble

Saturday, Feb. 2, the Canadian Wildcat Band traveled to West Texas A&M University for the UIL Solo and Ensemble competition. Thirteen soloists and 4 ensembles from Canadian competed. Out of the participants, 2 soloists and 2 ensembles earning Division 1 ratings qualified for state in May. The State solo qualifiers are Lilly Bradford and Reine Osornio. State ensemble qualifiers Rebekah Avila, Jocelin Cervantes, and Victoria Urschel performed their ensemble piece “3 Pieces for Three Wood Winds.” State ensemble qualifiers Alyssa Beach, Myra Herrera, and Collier Cook performed their ensemble piece “Bugler’s Holiday”. The participants who made 1s but didn’t make it to state are Lianette Reyes, Samantha Benson, Mattilynn Abraham, Jasmin Avila, and Myra Herrera with her solo. The day for State Solo and Ensemble hasn’t been set but will take place after graduation in May.
