Homecoming Football Frenzy

Against the Perryton Rangers the Wildcats came back into their usual from with a dominant 56-14 victory over the Rangers. This rivalry dates back a long ways with in the past Perryton burning a P on the Canadian field and Canadian stealing the Perryton city limits sign. While these traditions and no longer carried out, the one that is would be the battle between the two teams. The Wildcats started on defense and after a quick stop the Cats got the ball and with the help of a 2 yard touchdown run by Junior QB Carmen Cavalier the Cats were on the board. Camren would go on to get 2 more touchdowns on the run, and then also throw for 2 more to Junior Preston Miller and Sophomore Julian Dominguez. A bug standout for the game was the performance of Junior backup running back Kaden Crooks.  Kaden came of the sideline to run for 2 touchdowns and leading several drives down the field. The Cats were ferocious only allowing 14 points. At the end of the 2nd quarter the Rangers were lined up for a field goal to end the half, this would be blocked by Julian Dominguez and Senior Jaxtyn Valenzuela, and picked up by senior Cree Waite who returned the blocked kick 78 yards for a touchdown, creating on of the most electric plays of the night. When asked about his performance Camren Cavalier said, “I could drive a truck through the holes in the line, our lineman make my job easy.” The Cats showed that even when they are down and they take a couple losses, that they are never out of the picture. When asked about the performance Friday night Senior captain Trace Mitchell said, “We definitely needed this win and we put in the work all week to get it.” This is a perfect example of how the Cats Never Outworked mentality goes all the way from top to bottom in the program, and how no matter the adversity that the Cats may face they will always put in the work and fight through.
