ChatGPT: What does it have in store?

January 27, 2023
Technology has become an everyday tool that no one can live without. The inputs of code have helped improve data, develop more sufficient ways of medicine and continues to grow to this very day. An example of this new technology is ChatGPT; an OpenAI that answers the simplest of questions.
ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) was developed by OpenAl and the most recent version of GPT was released in 2020. ChatGPT has many purposes; from language understanding and translation, to summarizing and text classification ChatGPT can be a tool to learners and professors. Students can use ChatGPT for grammar, vocabulary, and writing in English class and reading class. ChatGPT can also provide information about specific topics. For technology lovers, ChatGPT can generate documentation and tutorials, automate repetitive tasks, and provide technical support.
To use ChatGPT, students and teachers have to make an account at chat.open at.com. An email, password, and phone number will be required to verify your account. Once you have made an account, you can simply type your request or question within the chat box and the AI will start generating a response. Past conversations and requests will be saved on the left side of the screen so you can go back and ask the chat bot to elaborate on requests or questions.
ChatGPT is great for school; it acts as an assistant and helps increase student engagement. To provide feedback on the student work, ChatGPT will make personalized comments on how to improve grammar, or sentence structure. It is available 24/7 so students can work on their assignments anytime.
On the downside, technology has taken jobs, snuck its bugs into the doings of a simpleton and has the potential to stop the full development of young minds. ChatGPT has become a worry for teachers due to how easily students have the ability to cheat on online projects, or tests. Not only this, but due to bugs in the system and the developers, ChatGPT will give possible false answers when asked. The computer program has limits with basic math and only selects the most likely answer due to its training.
Overall, ChatGPT is an innovation of the new world of technology. The program has negatives and positives, as does all technology of today, but it comes down to the reliability and honesty of human beings.
